“In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.” Isaiah 63:9
Tell me about my Lord crucified! I am weary and worn tonight,
The abject darkness that shrouded Him, not a hint of heaven’s light.
Day after day in this valley below seeing so much that I detest!
My poor heart is aweary, aweary, and longs for His promised rest!
Tell me about my Lord’s sufferings! Of the wrongs He totally felt;
Of His mercy and compassion, forgiving the hate He was dealt!
For my heart is aweary, aweary, of the woes and attacks in this life,
Of the thanklessness of others, of falsehoods, malice and strife.
Yet, I know that whatever of sorrows, of pains or hard trials befall,
My ever caring Lord has suffered and will give His strength in them all!
So remind me of His stripes now falling on my wounds like balm,
My heart so saddened and burdened shall grow strong, patient, and calm.
