And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.”
With that thought in mind, why do we limit our expression of love and joy to others every day? The wise men came and brought gifts to the Christ child. If we truly understood that the gifts we purchase at Christmas were gifts to celebrate His birth, wouldn’t this change the way we look at all the other days on the calendar if we are truly celebrating His life in us?
The more intimate my relationship with Him grows, the more I am amazed at the depth of God’s great love for each of us. I can’t wrap my mind around His unconditional love to voluntarily send His Son to us as an infant, to become sin, and then die the worst death imaginable so that you and I could become an heir of the kingdom of God!
It seems that I find myself weeping so easily these days as I hear Him speak to my heart. When I praise Him I become immersed in His presence and my breath is taken away. I long to stay in that place and commune with Him. This is the place of healing and deliverances. This is where I hear Him whisper to me of what the future will hold or reveal something to me that needs to be dealt with. It’s where I am able to let down my defenses and allow His love to wash over me. It’s where the bitter waters of Marah are turned into sweet water. It’s where I begin to see through His eyes and not through my filter.
Why is “Christmas” only a season? If we could truly understand what it means to be imitators of Christ (Ephesians 5:1), understanding as He did, that each day was precious and that God had a plan for that day, would we begin to truly walk in the Spirit?
You don’t need to be rich to live a life of giving. Even if you are homebound, you can impact the world. You and I can’t use the excuse that we are waiting for someone to show us the way. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, gave us 66 love letters to show us the way. Won’t you join me today as the bride of Christ and choose to celebrate by showing the love of the Father to those we meet each day?
I would love to hear your testimonies as you embrace this new path. I hope you will share so that others will be encouraged and we can become a body that is willing to pray for each other, as well as lifting up the banner of victory that only comes by our surrender of our pride and control, and embracing Jesus Christ, as not only our Savior, but as Lord of our lives!
Everlasting Father, we bow before You today in worship of the newborn King! He alone can bring us peace, joy, contentment, salvation and eternal life. When You spoke to Your prophet Isaiah You said that there would be no end to His government. Every government has established laws that must be followed, forgive us for our arrogance for our disobedience. Thank You for making a way where there was no way for us to be in covenant with You. Thank You for loving us so much that you would convict and discipline us that we may learn to walk in Your ways. Guide us as we embark on a new journey of recognizing that every day is a celebration of His birth and the best present we can give is the gift of Jesus Christ to the world. We love You and adore You! Amen.
